On our vacation run to the mountains at the end of July we made a day trip into Tennessee to run up Roan Mountain. On the way we drove through Roan Mountain State Park. Driving through the park I was amazed at the fields of purple cone flowers along the road. These mountain flowers were in full bloom and attracting lots of interest from the butterflies. I was walking along the bayou behind my house a few years back and came across this spider at the edge of the woods. It was late in the day and the sun was setting behind the web…It made for a very dramatic shot.
