There is a place I like to go… It’s a little piece of what once was over nine million acres. Saved by chance, and the dedication of a few individuals. On the west side of the Brazos River in northern Brazoria County, these 400 acres of pristine coastal prairie still preserve what once was.
Whenever life is getting a bit too rushed, when the sounds of nature are drowned out by the sounds of man, I can always take myself across the river and sit on the side of the county road that runs on the east side on the Nash Prairie… It doesn’t take long for wind in the grass, the birds in the bush, the cows across the way to bring me back to my center.
