Pelican

Pelicans have made a remarkable comeback along the Gulf Coast in the past 30 years. Back when I was in high school, and spending as much time as we could at the beach, the pelican had all but disappeared from around here. Today all day long you will see flights of pelicans playing follow the leader, all in a straight line, along the waves.

Squirrel On Tree

A common sight out my kitchen window at any time of the year. This old stub of a limb is a favorite place of the neighborhood squirrels. Out of reach of cats and dogs, hidden from the hawks…A great place to munch on an acorn or two…

Armadillo

This little guy and his two siblings were born and lived for a while under our house. It was quite amusing each evening to watch them wander out and begin to root about in the yard and flowerbeds looking for supper. If I lived in suburbia and had a manicured yard I probably wouldn’t have been so amused. But for the span of a few weeks we enjoyed their antics each day at sundown…
