This was taken on our first trip to Mabry Mill. It was also our first trip, individually and as a family, into Virginia. The day was overcast, threating rain and delivering it with regularity. If you look closely you may make out the raindrops hitting the millpond.

One day on our vacation in 2006 to Valle Crucis, North Carolina we drove up Howards Creek Road to see what we could find. Once we reached the top of the mountain this field captured all of our imaginations…What a sight it must be in winter covered with snow, swept by the winds that blow across the peaks of these mountains.

On our second trip to the Blue Ridge Mountains, this was the view as I had my morning coffee…Oh, to be there still.
