This was the weekend of our 30th Wedding Anniversary…And three days after being laid off from my job of 35 years…The numbness has worn of by now…And the trip, planned and paid for in advance, really was the best thing we could have done. The nights on the porch watching the lights of Fredericksburg helped give us thinking time.
The drive down towards Lost Maples State Park was beautiful as you can see from the photo.

This Photo is actually from last year. I was driving to work when I had to pull off the road and capture the view.
The fog on the ground, the clouds above the horizon, the deep blue sky above…They all came together to make it easy to compose this shot…

When I first saw this old mill dam in 2004, I really wanted to take a shot. But the road past was narrow with no place to pull over. There were no trespassing signs posted everywhere. So I didn’t stop.
The next time we were in the mountains, the water level was so low that there was no water running over the dam. It wasn’t until our trip in November of 2007 that I was able to capture a shot. The weather was overcast and rainy, fall was already gone from most of the trees. But the image (with just a little tweaking from photoshop) worked for me.
It has a real old tintype look and feel that I really like here.

What little fall color we get here along the Texas Coast… Back-lit by the setting sun catches my attention as I walk the trails behind my house.
