Hi! Welcome to my PhotoBlog.

I am Gary Boyd. Native Texan. Photography is a hobby I started with an old Kodak Brownie as a kid. Once I grew up a bit, we always had Polaroids. When I got old enough to buy a “real” camera I picked out a Minolta. For some reason, as our kids were growing up and money got tight I quit playing.

A few years back I once again took up the hobby…This time with a Nikon. I started with film but after a few years I went ahead and switched to digital. Being free from the worry of film in the hot Texas sun was one of the biggest things that happened to my photography. Now I could travel with a camera everywhere and not worry about leaving the camera locked in the car…It opened up new vistas andĀ opportunitiesĀ for my creative muse.

I started posting images at different places around the web in 2005 or so. Sites have crashed. Databases have been corrupted. But it has all been good…This particular version of this site is being rebuilt in May of 2010 after having the last version implode after 3 years of posting…Hopefully, this version will last longer.

Wander around. Check out the archives. Enjoy the images that have captured my imagination.

    Hi Gary,

Love your Winedale Homestead photo! I am putting together a brief article for our alumni magazine about a recent gift to support Winedale. Your photo would be a perfect accompaniment to the text. We are happy to give you a photo credit. What do you say?

    Thanks,

Thanks for the mention in your blog today – I’m thrilled mostly because it made me stop and start roaming your site. I’m one of those “I got here as fast as I could” Texans, and I’ve been a Hill Country afficianado for a couple of decades. I love the state, and I love your photos of it.

The only problem is – now I want to start traveling the state again, and this just isn’t the time. One of these days it will be. Until then, I’ll make do with your fabulous memory-stirrers.

Linda, When I first discovered your site it was the name that caught my attention. I was raised in Pasadena and I had an Aunt and Uncle living at the end of Red Bluff back when it actually went to Red Bluff on Galveston Bay. Shoreacres was just down old 146 from their house. All that was before Bayport was even conceived. I spent many summer days down at the bay in that area.

It’s been a couple of years since I did any Texas exploring and I am starting to feel the itch to get back out on the road again myself…Thanks for the kind words…

Your images are wonderful. There are several fall shots that I would like to consider for a front cover of our 2011 Fall Guide. It must be in the hill country, preferably around Llano and Burnet counties. Wesner Publications has 6 newspapers, several magazines and seasonal tabloids. Would you consider letting use use your photo(s) with proper credit given to you. Unfortunately I cannot offer you payment.

    Thanks for sharing your photos…..MaryElla
