Still a favorite of mine…Tickseed flowers back-lit by the setting sun.

Coreopsis (pronounced /ˌkɒriˈɒpsɨs/;[1] common names include tickseed and calliopsis) is a genus of herbs in the family Asteraceae. Many of its 35 species are cultivated.

Older: Pelican

Pelicans have made a remarkable comeback along the Gulf Coast in the past 30 years. Back when I was in high school, and spending as much time as we could at the beach, the pelican had all but disappeared from around here. Today all day long you will see flights of pelicans playing follow the leader, all in a straight line, along the waves.
